Beginner Yoga
Yoga offers an excellent way to stay in shape by building
strength and toning your body, even for losing
weight.
I've also found that it's very helpful for
stretching when you're involved in high-impact
sports like wakeboarding or
snowboarding. When I take a yoga class just once or twice a
week, my body feels much less stiff and sore from the other
activities I'm doing. I would recommend yoga to pretty much
anyone.
The only gear that I really found I needed
for the class was a yoga
mat. A basic non-slip yoga mat with a
textured surface will do fine. Wear comfortable clothing
that allows you to flexible. I wear a t-shirt and shorts,
but some people wear spandex pants or tops.
If you want to to yoga at home, either
instead of a class or in addition to a class, you may want to
consider more than just a yoga mat. For example, an
instructional
video or additional equipment, like
blocks, straps and balls, that let you add variety and
challenge to your workouts.
